Evaluation Question 2
Front Cover
My front cover represents the new generation of music in the industry, which is of the same age of my target audience: 13-17 as my front cover shows what my target audience likes, it will be easier for my audience to relate to as the artist is going through the same thing that they may be doing. All of my colours that I have used, both collide with each other as it shows a new meaning, with the black and the white together makes it seem elegant, creative and sophisticated, instead of dark and deep. I have used formal language and repetition so it doesn't make my magazine seem to childish with "slang", the repetition of the word: NEW projects to my target audience, because nearly everyone likes something new in the music industry.
Contents Page
My contents page layout helps represent my social group, it's catalogued and in different categories so it shows that my social group likes organisation and sophistication. I have different genders and ethnics so it is world-wide and for everybody, just as long as they like good music. The contents page also follows the same colour scheme which tells people that my social group is loud and passionate about the music that they like.
Double Page Spread
My double page features an article of the teenager who is on the front cover, but she is the lead singer in a girl/ boy band. This helps with making my magazine for both genders and for the young ages as they may be interested on what they have to say. The band that I am using represents my social group to be different and original, like many styles that teenagers are trying to gain, they are loud and proud with there style of black leather jackets can bring the old back, to change around in the new modern generation, so it also offers my target audience a new style, not only in music, but in clothing.
Overall, my magazine represents my social groups by the use of images, colours and text and the general idea of giving out something new.
Evaluation Question 4- Who would be the audience for your media product?
Due to the feedback that I have gotten of my work from some different social websites that I am on, such as Tumblr and Facebook, I came to the conclusion that my magazine is for teenagers that are alternative and would like something different, instead of the same genre on each music magazine.
My magazine is for the age range of 13- 17 with a social class of E-D, my price of JLM is affordable and works for this age range, because if they have spare money, they can easily afford this magazine. Even though many girls gave me feedback, my magazine remains for both genders because it offers them all something to enjoy. My main image is off a girl, but the impression that it is a girls a magazine is changed by the fact that she is in a boy/girl band- like Paramore or Without Temptation.
My colour scheme helps the impression that it is for both genders because they are adaptable colours that can work with everything. The scheme shouts out to the audience that they are loud, proud and they don't care what people think. My colours almost match music magazines such as Q and NME, but they are for older ages, so mine is like a junior version.
My title again is for any gender- JLM and again the colours adapt to that certain background. The best thing about my magazine is that it can show anyone with any article and it will still be designed for both genders and each cover-line can be eye-catching for anyone in my target audience.
I think my magazine is also aimed at teenagers, due to the language. It hasn't got "slang" or made-up words so it won't be under the impression that it is for children, but the simple language and key terms are for people who can be hooked by just seeing one name, such as a band like: You Me At Six, who is featured in one of my cover lines.
Another impression that it is for teenagers of the older ages, is that it is well organised and not cluttered, but at the same time it's just enough to grab there attention with the colours, main image, side-image, cover-lines, puff and many more.
