Sexuality

"Fingersmith"
Positive- women (sympathy, true love, honesty)
Negative- man (aggressive, demanding, controlling, deceitful)

Example One
A close up two shot of two female friends
Camera Work- close up to enhance the facial expressions and to show how close they are in their friendship.
Sound- voice over of the female (she looked so beautiful) to show what she is thinking, her inner thoughts and showing her secrecy.
Edit- cross cut to a closer two shot of the same females that are viewing the costume.
Misc en scene- old fashioned dress, one female looking over the shoulder (positioning), showing an intimacy. They have used low key lighting to focus on the foreground.

Example Two
A mid- shot of a female and male, not friends, more like acquaintances. Male shoved the female against the tree. Hand round neck.
Camera work- close up (head and body) to see the facial expressions of the angry woman and the mans facial expressions, expressing a sense of dominance, over powering the angry female.
Sound- dialogue between the two people, but you can hear the natural sounds of birds and slight wind.
Edit-
Misc en scene- male is grabbing the females neck, forcing her against the tree. Shows the dominant stereo type of a man. The dialogue shows on how the man is controlling, "just marry me" (he says with hand round throat- what a lovely proposal, so much thought went through this).

Example Three
A close up shot of the female looking like she is about to cry in her bed.
Camera work- close up to see the woman's facial expression on how lost she feels in emotion, this can make the audience sympathise with her because of how heart broken she looks.
Sound- there is music played over, a wood wind instrument, almost like a low flute. The music can empathise on how she is feeling.
Edit-
Misc en scene- The lighting is dark and low key setting, to draw focus on the facial expressions, it's made to look like it's dim candle light. They might be using this lighting to show how closed in the female feels.

Example Four
A scene where the female is painting the scenario of the green and the lake, but she keeps looking up focusing on the other female who is sleeping and leaning on the upside boat.
Camera work- Close up shot to see her facial expressions, when the camera switches to the sleeping female, it's a mid shot to see her whole body, however one time when it switches shot, it zooms into her breasts, showing her desire to want her, but can't have her.
