The region Surrey has been used plenty of times in the media, without us really noticing. TV Dramas such as Doctor Who, Primeval, Spooks, Midsummer Murder and many more have been based in Surrey. The media represent people who live in surrey to be either two ways:
1. Most of the time TV Dramas represents people who live in Surrey to be old, full of culture, knowing how to articulate our words and talk in a specific "posh" way.
2. The other way they represent people who live in this region, specifically teenagers is to make them look like cheap and chavy who cause trouble because they are bored all of the time.
The first example is presented in the TV drama Downtown Abbey, where the rich put on a pretence to bring lower archy people down.
The second example is not directly shown in TV Drama's, but it is hinted through crime dramas such as Spooks and Midsummer Murders feature teenagers to be disturbed, full of problems that then lead to them becoming murderers, but again this hint is knocked back by showing "pompous" teenagers who are going to private schools to get the best education, therefore they articulate all of there words.
In the news however, there is a different representation. Now we all know that if you find BBC News or anything like that, it will mainly be doom and gloom, such as:
"Camberley man charged with woman's murder" or "Sex offenders", but recently the news has been looking up for the high note:
"Child arrests continue to fall" which according to the news, it's a step up for the teenage community.
