TV Drama Part One

Two case studies on two current TV Drama's

Sherlock
This TV Drama from the modern take on the original classic Sherlock Holmes started running in 2010 and only has three episodes on each season. Series 2 ending with a bang in 2012 and they are currently making the third series in two months time, hopefully it will be ready by 2013 in April.

Who is Sherlock?
Well this is a stupid question, unless your Anderson I'll let you off. Sherlock is the famous, one and only consulting detective who battles with crimes and mysteries of nearly every case you can ever think off. He is a socio-path and doesn't really play well with others, well that was until John Watson came along. Together they solve mysteries and John writes about there adventures. However is this modern take John blogs about it. That's on the internet Anderson.

Who stars?
The main role of Sherlock is played by Benedict Cumberbatch (Parades End, Third star, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy), the famous john Watson is played by Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Wild Target, Nativity), the infamous villain of all time, Moriarty is played by Andrew Scott (Saving Private Ryan, Dead Bodies) and many other british actors follow, if you don't them then heres a quick list:
Mycroft played byMark Gatiss
Anderson played by Johnathan Aris
Lestrade played by Rupert Graves
and many more.

Plans for a follow up.
Series 3 will be out for 2013, not sure on what date yet. As per usual Steven Moffat (writer) sent out a tweet (like he did last year for season 2) realising three words on what the next three episodes are going to be about. The three words for Season 2 were: Woman, Hound, Fall, which were obvious to all the Sherlock fans, but this year for Season 3 they are: Rat, Wedding, Bow this gives us all the cues we need. For example:
Wedding- Completely obvious, it's when John Watson marries Mary.

Now Season 2 ended in heartbreak and despair for our own Watson, but there is absolutely no doubt that all the fans on the Sherlock base will tune in to see the reunion of John and the supposed to be dead Sherlock. There will probably be tears and laughter. No pressure Moffat unless you want John to jump of a bloody building as well!

Franchise.
This  modern take has stormed through the fan base, therefore resulting into any merchandise you can think off. Online you can buy:

    Canvases
I BELIEVE IN SHERLOCK posters and Tops
    little figurines
    Moriarty was real poster
    the Smily faced wall, wallpaper
And many more.

Genre?
I would say the genre for this infamous detective would be under Crime Drama.
